Bihar and Politics

Few days back I got a forwarded sms by one of my friends : A baby took birth in a hospital, before opening his eyes he asked nurse - bijli hai kya? (Is there light out there ?) and the nurse replies - no. The boy then gets frustrated and says - Sala, fir se Bihar me paida ho gaya (Holy God !! I took birth in Bihar again ). It hurts and hurts a lot.

And as is the law of the world, in it's worst time people not only ridiculed the development of the state, but the people (Ek Bihari, Sau Bimari), the cultures and festivals of here (remember the famous statement by one of the politicians on the major festival of Bihar - Chhath), questioned the rights of equality, and the state and the people were mocked in every possible way.

It's an irony, Bihar - a pilgrimage of many major religions, he place where first formal university was started (Nalanda) and people from all across world came to get knowledge, the janmbhoomi / karmabhoomi of Aryabhatta and Maharshi Valmiki, Ashtravakra, Raja Janak, King Jarasandh, Mahavira, Buddha, Pāṇini, Aryabhata, Vātsyāyana, Chanakya, Aśvaghoṣa, Ashoka the Great, Samudragupta, Sher Shah Suri, Guru Govind Singh, Mandan Mishra etc. has to see all this. I really wonder that the state which was second in growth rate during inpendence can see such a pathetic situation in just 50 years. The politicians must have really worked hard (and they have, take the example of educational system where they tried every way to keep people illiterate or law and order where all the local gundas controlled social system).

I feel the state, which has such a rich history, has seen the darkest age in recent past (thanks to politicians of those times) as evident from the latest election trends. I remember how people took oath in last elections to bring back pride and peace back in Bihar and they flew from their respective places just to take part in elections. The magic has worked, and you can hear (although still in murmurs) people have started taking this widely ridiculed state bit seriously.

The history is repeating again, and the people responsible for this condition of the state are shown the door badly (http://indiatoday.intoday.in/site/specials/biharelections2010/index.jsp ). I really want to give a free suggestion to all these sucking politicians who play with the emotions of people, from the great poltician Lincoln: “You may fool all the people some of the time, you can even fool some of the people all of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all the time.”

I feel Bihar has seen enough and now its time to resurgence. Lets hope for the best.

Bihar - An inspiration for all India.

A state deep-rooted in caste-system came out of barrier and voted for development.
A state relatively illiterate and undeveloped - where more women voted then men.
A state relatively disturbed - where warning of Naxalites can't deter the determination to bring back peace.

Come on 'Chankya' - time has come to protect not only Magadh but entire Aryavarta from Ghananand and Alexander.
Wake up 'Jaiprakash' - this emergency can't stop you. You have the re-script the history and root out dirty dynasty politics.  Jai ho!!
